Susan Rice for Secretary of State….NO WAY!

It has become crystal clear that Susan Rice is a train wreck with no integrity and poor judgment. There is no way she should be the next Secretary of State; unless, of course, it is because she is one of Obama’s pals. That is not enough.

Rice was around in a position of authority for major screw ups in foreign affairs. She was Senior Director of African Affairs from 1995-1997 during the Clinton years. Then she was the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs from 1997 to 2001. The bombing of the US Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were on August 7th, 1998. She played a significant role in those Embassies not having repeatedly requested security increases.

Then she was involved in the decisions around activities that resulted in the loss of an opportunity to capture or kill Osama ben Laden. This was before the 9/11 tragedy in New York.

Now comes Benghazi. As our Secretary to the United Nations, she repeatedly mouthed a story to the public she knew was a lie at the time. Integrity goes out the window with this one. The whole story still is not known, but enough is known that Susan Rice does not cut it for Secretary of State.

All of this says nothing about her record as US Secretary to the United Nations. That record is pathetic. She has been absent when too many important matters have been decided or events have occurred. She has not represented the country effectively.

The one question that never gets asked by the media is what the source is of the 40-60 million dollars estimated to be her net worth. There are even estimates up to 100 million dollars. Her husband, a Canadian and a TV producer, surely does not earn that kind of money. Rice as a government employee does not either. Where did the money come from? She is known to have connections to several oil related companies. This smells a little.

So, Susan Rice…. liar, poor judgment, incompetence, and maybe questionable “business” activities. No Secretary of State.

About Kent Blacklidge Ph.D.

As one of a newspaper family who owned a 34,000 daily newspaper in the heart of the Midwest for 85 years, I have a deep belief in a strong “Fourth Estate”, the press. Without a diligent, truthful, and assertive free press, the power would be taken from the people. People have the absolute right to know. After earning a degree in Industrial Management from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue, I spent over 20 years in newspaper management with several as publisher. I also hold three graduate science degrees including a Ph.D.. I have a passionate interest in science, the environment, government, and politics. I have very little tolerance for ignorance and stupidity.
